template update

Good news everyone, I am in the process of updating all the precreated templates. From now on I will probably do full updates quarterly.

New templates:
* Debian 6.0
* SUSE 11.4

Moved from beta:
* SUSE 11.2, 11.3
* Fedora 14

Moved to unsupported (because they are no longer supported by upstream vendors):
* Fedora 12 (EOL Dec 02 2010)
* SUSE 11.1 (EOL Jan 14 2011)

The update will appear in a few days, probably as soon as next Tuesday or so.

And yes, we are still waiting for CentOS 6 to be ready...

Update: it took me much more time than expected; updates are finally released 28 Apr 2011

How about Scientific Linux 6? Their new release is much much closer to upstream RHEL6 than SL5 was.

Scientific Linux 6.0 OS Template in contrib
An Scientific Linux 6.0 OS Template was contributed recently. It was made by installing SL on a physical machine and then following a p2c migration recipe... and then doing some needed cleanups. I installed it to test it out and have a look... and it seems good to go to me. Give it a try.

I can't give any ETA. But from what I see, it's already much better than RHEL5, due to improved kernel and new features. So my suggestion is to start using it right now, starting from the less important servers that you have.

Hello, where can I find those templates you prepared, because at http://download.openvz.org/template/precreated/ are still the old versions, is there another mirror I miss?

Those are not yet ready, due to different circumstances. I hope for next week.
