OpenVZ in Linux distros

We at OpenVZ do really like to be a part of different Linux distributions. Although it is definitely more work for us to do (since different distributions are based on different kernels, and most part of OpenVZ is in kernel), we are really happy to do that, since more users will use and benefit from OS-level virtualization — and this is our major goal.

Speaking of distributions, I always like to say that Gentoo Linux is the first distro which includes/supports OpenVZ — since the last September! It has happened due to the endless help from the Gentoo-VPS project. For a Gentoo user that means that installation is almost as easy as running emerge openvz-sources vzctl. Well, actually it involves some more steps which are described in details here.

We are also working with the other distribution vendors, and today I am really happy to announce is Mandriva Corporate Server 4.0 will include OpenVZ! Full press release on that is here.

Ubuntu?
Any plans to release OpenVZ officially for Ubuntu at all? Their latest release (6.06 LTS) will be supported for 5 years, so it'd be a great product to have OpenVZ installed on!

Re: Ubuntu?
Let me second that - Ubuntu (6.06 LTS) will be around for a long enough time to be supported. How about it OpenVZ - could you tell us where this stands?

linux distros
Update : in other thread it is obvious that OpenVZ is added in Debian Unstable.

Ubuntu is primary desktop distribution so it is less likely that OpenVZ is high on their priority list. Still, you can use DEB packages on Ubuntu.

BTW, while I prepared my sites Cheap VPS and VPS Review I haven't noticed many VPS providers are offering VPS running OpenVZ currently.
